I hereby certify that Aleksander Tanajewski, son of Adam Tanajewski and Marianna nee Kaczynski was born in Suwalki on the second of January 1886, baptized on 5th of January 1886. Stamped and dated 5/11/1946 Signed by Rector (signature illegible)

1886- His birth record from Suwalki states:
It happened in the city of Suwalki on 5 Jan 1886 at 3 pm personally appeared Adam Tanajewski, a warder of the Suwalki hospital, living in the city of Suwalki, 26 years old. In the presence of Michaeil Alex 40 year old, and Bohumil Malinovski 50 years old, both wardens of the Suwalki hospital, and they showed us a male child. He was born in the city of Suwalki on 2 Jan 1886 at 3 am from his legitimate wife Marianna, née Kacyn´nska, 23 years old. The infant by the holy baptism held today by Priest of Casimir Stepszis, was given the name Alexander and the godparents were Michael Alex and Veronica Patsko (Packo). This act was read aloud to the declarant and witnesses, and sign only us. Rev. A. Makowski.

1906 - Married on Sep 3. The marriage record #342, states:

Married in Newark, NJ on 3 Sep 1906. Witnesses: Romuald Karpowicz and Peter Gargut.

He was a carpenter, but couldn’t find that work in the US. At first he worked in the mines in Pennsylvania. Later he worked on auto repairs, bumping out the steel.

1949-Brooklyn Eagle, Mon. Oct. 3, p12:
BAY RIDGE TRANSACTION
James C. Moraitis sold to Howard A. Steup and Alexander Tanajewski the two-family dwelling on a plot 25.6x100 at 464 80th St. The sale price was $17,000. A $9,000 mortgage was obtained from the Atlas Savings and Loan Association. Institution was represented by Frank A. Jurek, attorney. Title was insured by Guaranteed Title and Mortgage Company.

Reposing at Jurek Funeral Home, 728 4th Avenue, corner 23rd Street; Requiem Mass at Our Lady of Czestochowa R. C. Church, Monday 9 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
