His birth certificate is translated from Dutch as: On the 8th day of May, 1848 has appeared before us, the undersigned registrar of the City of Amsterdam, Simon Abraham de la Fuente, no profession, age 33, living at Marken #7, who has declared that on the 5th day of this month at 2 o'clock in the afternoon in the house situated as mentioned above, was born a male child out of Beletje Salomon Rokkestikker, no profession, living with her above mentioned husband, which child will be named Abraham, of which declaration we have made a Certificate in the presence of Caleb van Moses Coelo, no profession, age 60 years, living at Marken #7, and of Moses Abraham Branden, no profession, age 63 years, living Marken #7, and this Certificate has been signed by us, as well as the father and the witnesses, after having been read. There were 3 other families living at 36 Lamb St. He married Maria Anna Moses Bronkhorst on 31 May. According to his marriage certificate, his marriage was solemnized in the Portuguese Synagogue, Bevis Marks, in the District of London City, in the City of London. He was a bachelor, age 23, cigar maker, living at 36 Lamb Street, Spitalfields; his father is Simon DeLaFuente, a carrier.

Abraham's marriage is listed on LDS film 951378, Index to marriages in England/Wales 1871 in the 2nd quarter, in district of London C, vol 1c, p. 191. His marriage is also recorded in the book, Bevis Marks Records, at the Lib of Congress, p 124-125. This gives the same information, and also says that £50 was the "Husband's addition" and that Benjamin Artom was the witness of the Ketubah.

1872 - His daughter, Betsy, later called Bessie, was born on 3 Apr at their home at 3 North St, Spitalfields Market, London. She was named after his mother, Beletje. He is listed as a journeyman cigar maker on her birth certificate.

1873 - His son, Simon, was born 2 Oct. They were living at 27 Lamb St, Spitalfields, London, at the time.

1875 - His daughter, Leah, was born on 6 Aug. They were living at 27 Lamb St, Spitalfields, London, at the time.

1879 - His son, Solomon, was born on 14 Jan at 14 Angel Court, St Botolph Sub-district, London.

1881 - On 6 March, his son, Morris, age 3, died at home at 9 Tewkesbury Buildings, London, of scarlatina & pneumonia. He was the informant on the death certificate. Abraham is listed in the 1881 English Census taken on 11 Apr 1881 on LDS film #1,341,096, p113, e.d.15, p14 as:

1882 - His daughter, Sarah, was born on 5 Apr at home at 9 Tewkesbury Buildings, Whitechapel, London. He was the informant on the birth certificate.

1884 - His son, Henry, was born on 7 May. He is listed as a cigarmaker living at 10 Tewkesbury Buildings, Whitechapel, England on the birth certificate. He is listed in the London Post Office Directory as a provision dealer, 144 & 171 Cannon St. Road E.

1886 - His daughter, Rebecca, was born on 1 July. He is listed as a cigarmaker living at 183 Wentworth Buildings, Whitechapel, England on her birth certificate.

1891 - He is listed in the English census, Administrative County London, Civil Parish St Mary, Urban Sanitary District Whitechapel, Ecclesiastical Parish St Jude, RG12/280, Registration District Whitechapel, Subregistration District Whitechapel Church, e.d. 10, folio 12, page 25, Schedule #119 as: Abraham Delafuente, head of family, married, 42, employed as a cigar maker, born Amsterdam, Holland, living at 116 Houlston St, London, with his spouse, Mary, daughter, Betsy, son Simon, daughter, Leah, son, Solomon, daughter, Sarah, son, Henry, and daughter, Rebecca.

1892 - He immigrated to the US, arriving in Boston 14 Sep 1892. He is listed at the National Archives, film T-843 roll 4, Alien Immigrants, p 168, passenger 162 as:
Abraham Delepante [sic], age 44, male, nationality Denmark [should be Dutch], last residence Holland [should be England], destination Mass, occupation cigarmaker, 2 pieces of baggage, arrived 14 Sep 1892 by the steamship Catalonia from Liverpool & Queenstown.

1893 - His wife and children, except Bessie, who was already married, immigrated to America, sailing from Liverpool on the S.S. Ohio, & arriving at the port of Philadelphia on 5 June, to join him in Boston. On the ship's passenger list his address is given as 10 Sudbury Place off Weston, Roxbury, Boston.

1894 - 95 He is listed in the Boston City Directory as Abram Delafuente, cigarmaker, with a house at 8 Sudbury Pl.

1896 - He is listed in the Boston City Directory as Abraham Delafuente, cigarmaker, with a house at 255 Heath St.

1897 - He is listed in the Boston City Directory as a cigarmaker with a house at 136 Cabot St. Along with his son-in-law, Alexander Woolf, husband of Bessie, he filed his Declaration of Intent to become a citizen on 1 Jan at the US Circuit Ct in Boston. The Declaration states:
UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
The Honorable the Judges of the Circuit Court of the United States, Within and for the District of Massachusetts. Respectfully represents Abraham DeLafuente of Boston in said District, occupation cigar maker, an alien and a free white person, that he was born in Amsterdam, Holland on or about the 5th day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty-eight and is now about 48 years of age; that he arrived at Boston in the District of Mass. in the United States of America, on or about the 17th day of Sept in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and ninety two; that it then was, and still is, his bona fide intention to become a citizen of the United States of America, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, State, Potentate and Sovereignty whatsover,-more especailly to Wilhemina, Queen of the Netherlands, whose subject he has heretofore been. He therefore prays that this, his Declaration and Intention, may become a record of this Honorable Court, agreeable to the laws for such case made and provided. [Signed by] Abraham DeLafuente. Circuit Court of the United States, Masschusetts District. He is listed in the 1900 US Census, MA, film T623, roll 684, MA, Suffolk Co., e.d. 1420, sheet 5, lines 20-26 as Amos [sic] Delafuent [sic], white, male, born May 1848, age 52, married for 29 years, born in Holland, his mother and father both born in Holland, immigrated to the US in 1892, 8 years in the US, petition for citizenship filed, a cigarmaker, employed all year, able to read, write and speak English, renting his home at 12 Weston Place, Boston, MA, living with his wife, Mary, his son, Simon, his son, Solomon, his daughter Sarah, his son, Henry, and his daughter, Rebecca.

1901 - He is listed in the Boston City Directory, p. 456, as a cigarmaker with a house at 12 Weston Place, Boston.

1903 - He was naturalized on 18 Sep at the US Circuit Court, Boston. His Petition for Citizenship states:

To the Circuit Court of the United States, holden at Boston, within and for the District of Massachusetts: Respectfully represents Abraham DeLafuente residing at No. 8 Bower St, Boston in said District, occupation cigar maker, an Alien and a free white person; that he was in in Amsterdam Holland on or about the 5th day of May in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty-eight and now about 55 years of age; that he arrived at Boston in the State of Massachusetts in the United States of America, on or about the 17th day of September in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and 92; that he made a primary declaration of his intention to become a citizen of said United States before the Honorable US Circuit Court, Boston, Mass on the 1st day of January A.D. 1897 in which he declared on oath that it was his bona fide intention to reside in and become a citizen of the United States of America, and to renounce all allegiance and fidelity to every foreign Prince, Potentate, State or Sovereignty whatsoever-more especially to Wilhelmina Queen of the Netherlands whose subject he had theretofore been. 1907-08. He is listed in the Boston City Directory as a cigarmaker boarding at 8 Bower St., Roxbury, which appears to be the house of his son, Simon DLF.

1909 - He is listed in the Boston City Directory, p. 529 as a cigarmaker boarding at 8 Bower St., Roxbury, which appears to be the house of his son, Simon DLF.

1910 - The Boston City Directory says "Delafuente, Abraham, removed to New York city." He is listed in the NY City Directory as DeLaFuente Abraham cigars 2403 Westchester av. He is listed in the US Census taken 23 Apr 1910, at New York, New York County, Bronx Borough, e.d. 1468, sheet 13A, lines 21-23 as: Abraham De La Fuente, head of household, male, white, 61, married for 39 years, born Holland with Dutch as his mother tongue, both parents born Holland with Dutch as their mother tongue, immigrated to the USA 1892, a naturalized US citizen, able to speak English, a cigar manufacturer, owned his own store, an employer, able to read and write, renting his home, living at 2403 Westchester Avenue, Bronx, New York, a two-family house, with spouse, Mary and son, Henry A.

1911 - He is listed in the NY City Directory as Delafuente Abram cigarmkr with a house at 520 E 164th.

1912 - He is listed in the Brooklyn, NY City Directory, p 381, as Delafriente [sic] Abraham, h 606 Koscko.

1913 - He died in Brooklyn, NY on 23 Dec, age 65. His death certificate, No. 23487, says: State of New York, Dept of Health of the City of New York, Bureau of Records, Standard Certificate of Death; Borough of Brooklyn, 606 Kosciusko St, a tenement, Abraham DeLaFuente, white, male, married, died 23 Dec 1913. Born 5 May 1848. Age 65 years, 7 months, 18 days. Occupation: Cigarmaker. Birthplace-Holland; How long in US?-21 years; How long resident of NY?-4 years; Father-Simon DeLaFuente, born Holland; Maiden Name of Mother- Bella Rochsticker, born Holland. I hereby certify that the foregoing particulars are correct as near as the same can be ascertained and I further certify that I attended the deceased form 11 Mar 1913 to 23 Dec 1913, that I last saw him alive on the 22nd day of Dec 1913, that death occurred on the date stated above at 12:25 a.m., and that the cause of death was a follows: Pulmonary edema & cardiac aschemia for 3 days, contributory: chronic arteriosclerosis for 3 years, 6 mons. Witness my hand this 23d day of Dec, 1913. S. W.? He was buried at Mt Hebron Cemetery, 2003 9th Ave, Flushing, Queens, NY City, block 11, path 7, sec. D, lot 13, grave 4, facing block 13, acct #001741, not in any organization. His tombstone says: [the first line is in Hebrew]
