Web Notes notes for Beletje Salomon ROKKESTIKKER
1809 - She was born on 12 Feb in Amsterdam, Holland. Her birth is recorded on LDS film #115,001, second part 1809-1811, p 205, written in Hebrew. It states: Birth of Beila bat Salomon Rokkestikker, born 21 Shevat, 12 Feb.

Beletje = Bella, Beila or Betsy in English.

1812 - Book C, page 84 verso. On 3 Feb 1812 Salomon Levie took the name Rokkestikker for himself and his children, and kept his first names. He was living at Vloyenburg #2, Amsterdam, with 2 sons, 1 daughter, and no grandchildren. Children: Levie, age 8 years, Beletje, age 3 years, and Aron, age 4 months, all living together.

1830 - Her father died on 30 July in Amsterdam.

1832 - Her illegitimate daughter, Engeltje, was born on 4 Jan in Amsterdam. Beletje was living with her brother, Levie Salomon Rokkenstikker at Houtgracht #22.

1836 - On 7 Aug she married Simon Abraham DeLaFuente at Naarden. Their marriage certificate is on LDS film #115,877, Marriages, Naarden, 1836. It states: On 7 Aug 1836 at noon appeared before the Mayor of Naarden to get married, Simon Abraham de la Fuente, unmarried, age 21, a merchant, born in Weesp, living in Naarden, adult son of Abraham Henricus de la Fuente, deceased, and Elizabeth Heijman, no occupation, age 67, living in Naarden, and Beletje Salomon Rokkestikker, unmarried, age 27, a maid, born and living in Amsterdam, adult daughter of Salomon Levie Rokkestikker, deceased, and Beletje Arons, no occupation, living in Amsterdam, who agress to the marriage. They registered to marry on 24 and 31 July at Naarden and Amsterdam without any opposition. The documents presented were:
1. A certificate of not enough money to pay the fees from the Mayor of Naarden for Simon.
2. Birth certificate that Simon Abraham de la Fuente was born 25 Mar 1815 in Weesp.
3. Death certificate that Abraham Henriques de la Fuente died 30 Aug 1826 in Naarden.
4. A certificate that Simon Abraham de la Fuente has fulfilled his obligation as to the national military.
5. A certificate of not enough money to pay the fees from the Mayor of Amsterdam for Beletje.
6. Birth certificate that Beletje Salomon Rokkestikker was born 12 Feb 1809 in Amsterdam.
7. Death certificate that Salomon Levie Rokkestikker died 30 Jul 1830 in Amsterdam.
Witnesses were:
1. Dirk Harthagon, shopkeeper, age 40, of Naarden
2. Wilhelmus Looser, a servant of justice, age 50, of Naarden
3. Barent van den Heuvel, a servant of justice, age 45, of Naarden
4. Pieter van Dijk, a servant of the police, age 50, of Naarden
Their marriage bijlagen (supplement) is recorded on LDS film #115,882, #10, Huwelijks Bijlagen, Naarden. A loose translation is:
Province of North Holland, Amsterdam
I, the undersigned, the keeper of the law according to Article 95 of the Southern Regiment and named the Honorable Mayor, declare that the marriage proclamation of Simon Abraham de la Fuente, salesman, living in Naarden, an adult son of Abraham Henriques de la Fuente, deceased, and Elisabeth Heijman, no profession, living in Naarden, and Beletje Salomon Rokkestikker, a female worker living in Achier?, an adult daughter of Salomon Levi Rokkestikker, deceased, and Beletje Arons, a housewife living in Achier state that everything they have said is true. This declaration was made on Sunday the 30th of Aug 1836. This declaration was made without any interference. Signed by the Magistrate.

The 2nd page of the bijlagen is loosely translated as:
Certificate of ? The Mayor of the City of Naarden declares that Simon Abraham de la Fuente who has the profession of salesman, born in Weesp and living in this area is . . . He needs this so that he can conduct the marriage with Beletje Salomon Rokkestikker who lives in Amsterdam in order that the marriage certificate be legal. Signed 4 July 1836 by the Mayor, J. P. Thierens.

The 6th page of the bijlagen is loosely translated as:
For God, #299, The Mayor of Amsterdam testifies that according to the following information, that Beletje Salomon Rokkestikker, profession of delivery person, born on --, living on Hoogenbruger Gracht [Street] in the Stoender Snydersgan is unable to pay for proof and registration in order for marriage to take place. Amsterdam 12 July 1836. Signed by the Mayor. The above extract is ??? signed according to law of Act 95 of Southern ?. All of this is done with the knowledge of the Honorable Mayor mentioned in the aforementioned register.

The 7th page of the bijlagen is loosely translated as:
Province of North Holland, Amsterdam, Birth Register of ? Community. Beletje Salomon Rokkestikker was born on 12 Feb 1809. The extract is certified in accordance with Act 95 ??? Signed 18 July 1836.

1837 - Her daughter, Rebecca, was born in Amsterdam on 20 Feb. On the birth ceritificate, Beletje is listed as Beletje Salomon Rokkenstikker, age 28, living at Vlooyensgracht #22, Amsterdam, with her husband and her brother, Levie Salomon Rokkenstikker, one of the witnesses.

1839 - Her daughter, Beletje, was born in Naarden on 2 June. The birth certificate states that her husband was a fuselier with the 17th Regiment of Infantry in the District of Tilburg [in the south, near Eindhoven]. He was not at home when the child was born; he was in Tilburg. Beletje Salomon Rokkenstikker is stated to have no occupation, and to be living at Kloosterstraat #23.

1839 - She is listed in the Volkstelling (census) on p 85 as living at Schipperstraat #461, Naarden, a single family house with 4 persons living in the house:

1841 - They had a stillborn son on 20 Apr in Naarden.

1842 - Daughter, Sara, was born on 14 Aug in Naarden. The birth certificate lists her as Beletje Salomon Rokkestikker, no occupation, of Sint Vitastraat #113.

1844 - Her daughter, Miriam, was born in Amsterdam.

1850 - Her son, Salomon, was born in Amsterdam. She is listed in the 1850 Dutch Census, LDS film #440,354. It is loosely translated as:
Beletje Saloman Rokkestikker; born 12 Feb 1809; place of birth Amsterdam; married; religion Portugese Israelite [Sephardic Jew]; occupation ?; married 7 Aug 1836 at Weesp [there are more comments, something about children, but otherwise the comments are unreadable]; living at her residence at 128 Kerkstraat [Church Street] Amsterdam; with her husband, Simon Abraham DeLaFuente [DLF], children Rebecca, Beletje, Sara, Miriam, Abraham and Salomon, also with Engeltje DLF born 1832 in Amsterdam, Eva DLF born 1837 Amsterdam, Simon DLF born 1839 Amsterdam, Joseph DLF born 1841 Amsterdam, Josef DLF born 184? Amsterdam, Sara DLF born 1842 Amsterdam, Betje DLF born 1832 Amsterdam, and David DLF born 1833 Naarden. These other DLF's are probably relatives of her husband. There are comments by the last two DLF's named, but I cannot make them out.
