Web Notes notes for Guy LE STRANGE
He fought at the Battle of Hastings and remained in England. William the Conqueror gave Guy Le Strange Hunstanton in Norfolk, England, probably about 1070, for his services at the Battle of Hastings. Guy is first mentioned in records in England at a great joust or tournament held at the Castle of Peverel in the Peak of Derbyshire, England, in 1082. At this great tournament of arms there were several persons of note, including Gwen, Prince of Wales, a son of the King of Scots, and two sons of the Duke of Brettaign or Brittany, and the youngest of them was Guy Le Strange.232

The name was originally Estrange, as this is the way it was listed on the Battle of Abbey Roll, which is the Roll of the Knights who fought with William the Conqueror at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.232
