Bartrum's "Welsh Genealogies". Maredudd and his brothers, Cadwgan and Iowerth, were the prominent leaders in the revolt against English hegemony in the years just prior to 1100. They were successful in regaining control of many parts of Wales. There was much strife and bloodshed amongst the descendants of Maredudd's father, Bleddyn, but finally Maredudd prevailed and was recognized as king of Powys. When he died in 1132, he left the kingdom to his son, MADOG.
