Web Notes notes for Ramiro SÁNCHEZ Lord Of Monzón
Weis' "Ancestral Roots. . ." (113A:24), calls him "Ramiro II", but see following notes.
Stuart's "Royalty For Commoners" (151:30) calls him Ramiro II Sanchez, the disinherited Infante of Navarre, Count of Monzon, Lord of Urroz, and Lord Moncon; went on the 1st Crusade with Raymond of Toulouse.

"Ramiro Sanchez, Count of Monzon was son of Constance. . .
It is extremely difficult to find any record of Ramiro Sanchez, since he was living at the Aragonese court at the same time that the Kings (Pedro and Alfonso) had a brother of the same name (RAMIRO
SANCHEZ, THE MONK, later RAMIRO II OF ARAGON. It is possible that many of the charter entries previously thought to refer to THE ARAGONESE MONK really refer to the Navarran Count."

"Now, for Ramiro, father of GARCIA Ramirez el Restaurante. GARCIA is said by near-contemporary chronicles to have been son of Ramiro Sanchez by CHRISTINA, daughter of EL CID. Menendez Pidal, in his Espana del Cid, follows some older sources in concluding that there was no Ramiro Sanchez in contemporary records, and that the father must instead have been son of Infante Ramiro Garces, son of KING GARCIA SANCHEZ. The line thus represented the legitimate line of the crown, and the two Ramiro's came to be called I and II, and the younger a disinherited Infante. As it turns out, there WAS a Ramiro Sanchez, but no Ramiro Ramirez in contemporary records. Often confused with his cousin RAMIRO SDANCHEZ OF ARAGON (later RAMIRO II, "THE MONK"), he can occasionally be distinguished. He must have been son of SANCHO GARCES because the patronomic provides the name of his father, and had he represented the direct male line of the murdered Sancho IV, this relationship would have been the important one to point out rather than his descent from GARCIA "el de Najera" in the previous generation. He was Count of Monzon, which title his son GARCIA also held before his elevation to king. Any reference to him as Ramiro II comes, directly or indirectly, from the incorrect assignment of his father, and the Infante Ramiro Garces never held Monzon."
