What is her first name? Her son's death certificate says it is Sophia. Her daughter's death certificate says it is Bertha. Both agree her last name was Schloss. I found the death certificate of a Carolina Heidenheim living at their address, about the time when Abraham's first wife would have died. I believe her name really was Carolina because of the 1843 death certificate, and because her daughter, Sarah, named her first daughter Carrie, probably after her mother.

She must have immigrated to the US by 1840 since her son was born in NY that year. She is listed in her daughter, Sarah's, 1880 census return as being born in Bavaria. In Sarah's 1900 census return she is listed as being born in Germany, but on Sarah's death certificate, she is listed as being born in Russia. Since the death certificate information was given by yet another generation down, I think it is less likely to be accurate. She must have been dead by 1845 because her husband had a child by his second wife.

1844-Her husband is listed in the 1844 New York City Directory, p. 163 as a dealer in fancy goods at 43 Columbia St, NY, NY.
The death on 20 Dec 1843 of Carolina Heidenheim, age 32, of 43 Columbia St, born in NY, from Febris Neroola, buried at RemfromCity [removed from city?] is recorded on LDS film #1,314,277, Manhattan deaths, liber 14, p1-2.
