The next O'Dempsey chief Dermot, raided the Pale in 1339, destroying the Castles of Lea, Kilmead and Ballylehane with the assistance of the O'Connor and O'More. A peace treaty in 1370 with the Lord Deputy lasted only four years before Clanmaliere was invaded by the English, causing Dermot to seek revenge by invading the Pale again and sacking the town of Athy. Dermot died in 1383 in battle against the English once more.
