Weis' "Ancestral Roots. . ." (89:27). According to Cockayne's "Complete Peerage", he was sometimes constable, probably to the Count of Aumale, Lord of Holderness. In 1158, and for several years thereafter, he was in charge of King Henry II's works at the castle of Scarborough.
