Humphrey de Bohun II., the Great succeeded his father as lord of Taterford. By order of King William Rufus he married Maud of Evereux, daughter of Edward de Evereux (de Salesbury), progenitor of the ancient Earls of Salisbury, through which marriage he acquired large estates in Wiltshire. He was Sheriff of Wiltshire and Bearer of the Royal Standard in 1120 in the battle of Benneville in Normandy.
