The book "The Wind from Hastings", historical fiction, by Morgan Llewelyn, ISBN 0-395-26474-X, is the story of her life. According to that book, She grew up in East Anglia. When her father was declared a traitor for the first time, the family was taken to live in Ireland with Maeve Mac Mael-nambo, cousin of Dermot Mac Mael-nambo, the King of Dublin and Leinster. When her father was reinstated, with the help of Gruffydd ap Llewelyn Prince of Gwynedd and Ruler of all Wales, she was given to him as his wife to cement the ties with her father, Earl Aelfgar. Her children by Gruffydd were Llewelyn, Rhodri, and Nesta. They lived at Rhuddlan Castle. When her husband was betrayed and slain, she and her children were taken as captives to the Saxon Earl Harold Godwinesson, who was determined to become the King of England, when King Edward died. He did so, made her marry him by holding her children as hostages. She was pregnant when he was killed at the battle of Hastings. She and her children "disappeared" after the battle, possibly they went back to Wales.
