Web Notes notes for Sir Henry SALUSBURY Knight
HENRY SALUSBURY, became the head of Lleweni. He had fallen upon troublesome times. Henry the Fourth had come to the throne in 1399, to the prejudice of the Duke of York, who was the rightful heir as descendant of Lionel, the second son of Edward Third, Henry being son of John of Gaunt, who was Edward's third son. We have seen that at the battle of Shrewsbury two of the Lleweni sons were there: they had sided with the king against the Welsh and Northern Confederation. In like manner they served Henry the 5th when he was king. Two of the sons of Henry Salusbury even accompanied him to France, and took part at the glorious victory of Agincourt; another son was killed at Anjou in 1421; and the father himself died soon after. He had married Ann Curtis, an English heiress, and had several children by her, but, so far as we are able to find, 2 only of these survived the father: Ralph, who was afterwards killed at the battle of St. Alban's, 1455, and his eldest living son and successor.... THOMAS SALUSBURY
