Web Notes notes for William FitzDavid BARRY
His brother, James Barry, became 4th Lord Barry, Barrymore or Buttevant about 1290, upon the death of their father, 3rd Lord Barry. James had license (1301) 29 Edw I to alienate land to the value of £20 a year in Muscry, Olethan and Ibawne, and appears accordingly to have alienated Ibawne to his younger brother, William.69

SIR WILLIAM MOYLE BARRY, Lord of Ibawne, married MARGARET, daughter of LORD COURSEY, and became the ancestor of the BARRYROES, from whom the EARLS OF BARRYMORE trace descent. The Lords and Earls of Barrymore were two distinct houses, the latter descending from the former. Both titles are now extinct, but there are numerous descendants of each.
The Records in the Record Office at Dublin show that SIR WILLIAM
MOYLE BARRY had three sons, the two younger being JAMES - ancestor of the MoJames families of Oriri, and LAURENCE, the first LORD BARRYROE.
