Web Notes notes for Sir Tudur Fychan AP GORONWY
He was the eldest son, a Knight, living 19 Sep 1337 at the Friary, Bangor, died 1367.60

In the time of King Edward III lived Sir Tudor Vaughan or Vychan ap Grono, one of the chief lords of the council of Llewellyn, died about 1268, descended lineally from Edneyfed Vychan; in fact Grono was his son and heir, a chieftain in North Wales. He styled himself Sir Tudor ap Grono and required all people to call him by that style. King Edward hearing it, sent for him and asked why he assumed knighthood without his authority. sir Tudor replied he had three qualifications:
1st as a gentleman
2nd had sufficient estate
3rd He was valiant and adventurous and throwing down his glove offered battle to all comers.
The king confirmed the honour he had assumed and from the loin of this knight came Owen Tudor and later Henry VII & Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary and Elizabeth I who by this descent were akin to the Mostyns.64

The brothers TUDUR and HYWEL AP, both of whom d. c. 1367 , are found in possession of Trecastell , Erddreiniog , and half of Penmynydd in Anglesey and ‘ Gavell Gron. ap Eden .’ (which included the nucleus of the later Penrhyn estate — see below), and half of ‘ Gavell Kennyn ’ in Crewyrion in Caerns, as well as the Cardiganshire possessions mentioned above. Their possessions in Anglesey and Caernarvonshire passed to Tudur 's sons — GORONWY OF PENMYNYDD (d. 1382 ), EDNYFED OF TRECASTELL (d. c. 1382 ), RHYS OF ERDDREINIOG , GWILYM OF CLORACH , and MAREDUDD , whose precise share of the family inheritance is not known.
