THEOBALD, 3rd Butler, adhered to HENRY III in the war with the Barons; born ca. 1216, married ca. 1242 Margery, eldest daughter of Richard de Burgo, Lord Deputy of Ireland (ancestor of the Lords Clanricarde), by whom he acquired a considerable accession of landed property, and died 1248 having had a son.
Theobald III married Margery, daughter of Richard de Burgo, ancestor of the Clanrickarde family. Richard granted to him with his daughter in Frank marriage the manors of Ardmaile, Kilmorackill and divers other lands, as appears by the deed preserved at Kilkenny. This Theobald adhered to the king in the Barons' wars. He was buried at Arklow in 1248.
