Web Notes notes for Torlogh MacDiarmata O'BRIEN King Of Thomond
From "A New History of Ireland" ISBN 0-19-821745-5, p 137:
Leth-ri of Thomond 1118-42, King of Thomond 1142-52, when he was deposed, King again 1153-67.

The burning of Tirdaglas monastery took place during a war between Connor O'Brien, King of Munster, and Turlough O'Connor, King of Connacht. The king of Munster entered into an alliance with Diarmid Mac Murrough, King of Leinster; took hostages from the Danes of Dublin, and thus secured, he proceeded into Connacht to inflict chastisement on that province. It was during this war that the Connacht forces retaliated by burning Tirdaglas. The king of Munster died soon after, in 1142, and was succeeded by his brother, Turlough O'Brien. The war continued between the two provinces. The king of Munster entered Connacht in 1143, where he destroyed the coronation fort and coronation tree of the O'Connors. Both parties being exhausted, an interview took place between the two kings, Torlough O'Brien and Torlough O'Connor at Tir da Glas in Ormond, where a peace was patched up between them for a time. But soon after, the Munster army entered Connacht, where they slew the O'Flaherty and brought home O'Kelly, prince of Hy-Many, a prisoner, in 1143; three years after the burning of Tirdaglas.11
