Marriage record of Jan Karpowicz and Franciszka Łapińska - 1825 Entry no. 5823 Marriage record. On 22 November 1825, in front of us the Suwałki priest and the civil records keeper of the Suwałki county, Dąbrowa district in the Augustów province (wojewódźtwo) appeared Jan Karpowicz, a bachelor, age 25, according to the baptismal record issued from the Suwałki church, residing in Suwałki on a farm with his mother. Son of the late Adam Karpowicz and living Agata née Pruszkowska; Came also Franciszka Łapinszczanka [= Łapińska], a spinster age 23, according to the baptismal record issued from the Suwałki church, residing by her parents in Suwałki. Daughter of Stefan Łapiński, a farmer and Rozalia née Suchocka. The newlyweds asked to start the marriage procedure, which banns were announced and placed on the community hall doors, the first on 31 October and the second on 7 November of the current year at noon on Sundays. No obstacles to the marriage were encountered and all law formalities were fulfilled. The parents gave permission to this marriage. All the presented papers were read to the newlyweds and the witnesses. According to the Napoleon Law, section no. 6 about the marriages we have asked the newlyweds, whether they want to be married. Each of them separately said that they do. We declare that according to the law Jan Karpowicz and Franciszka Łapinszczanka [= Łapińska] are married. This was written in the presence of Antoni Słuchocki, age 26, a farmer and Franciszek Makarewicz, age 26, a farmer, and also Franciszek [G…adawski ?], age 23, a farmer, Józef Wiszniewski, age 27, a farmer, all residing in the town of Suwałki.
