Web Notes notes for Theresa FUCHS
1882-Born in Palanka, Hungary on 14 Dec. Her name in Hungarian was Dereise [sp?]. Hungary was under German domination, and she was forced to have her school lessons in German, but she was taught Hungarian after school. She was not a Magyar. Fuchs is a German name.

Her daughter, Nancy, said that as a little girl, Theresa wanted red shoes very badly, but her father would not buy them for her, so she got a job making buttonholes on men's shirts to earn the money to buy the red shoes.

She had blue/greenish eyes, and blond hair, that later turned darker. She was peaceful until you crossed her, then "everyone better run!"

Her baptism is recorded in Hungary Catholic Church Records, 1636-1895:
Female, baptized 15 Dec 1882 at Németpalánka, Bács-Bodrog, Hungary, line 274, father: Josephus Fuchs, mother: Theresia Michels, GS Film # 638235, Digital Folder #4541569, image #209
